Hi, I’m Casey Iddon

Wide Bay has been a “safe seat” for decades. And while funding from Canberra should be based on need, too often it’s based on how marginal a seat is.

The LNP doesn’t think they can lose us. Labor doesn’t think they can win us. So we get left behind.

Other regions get the deals, the upgrades, the investment—while we’re stuck waiting. The need here is real. But instead of following the evidence, the major parties funnel funding to seats they think they can win from each other.

Wide Bay is one of the fastest-growing regions in the nation, with one of the oldest populations—but our health, infrastructure, and essential services haven’t kept up. Our hospitals are stretched. Services fall behind demand. Critical investment is delayed.

Like you, I’ve seen what happens when the system fails us—insurance companies during the floods, the housing crisis, the strain on our hospitals.

I live in Maryborough with my wife and three kids.
I’m standing as an independent to send a message: enough is enough.
Safe seat neglect must end.

With a PhD in Applied Economics and Finance, a background in financial markets, and a working-class upbringing, I understand both the numbers and the human cost. I’ve worked in a variety of roles—painter, university lecturer, research analyst in Sydney, and running a food truck with my wife.

Together, we can make a change. Let’s make Wide Bay matter.

Why Vote Independent?

When you vote for a major party, you’re not just electing a person—you’re electing a party machine. That means party lines, party spin, and decisions made in backrooms far from Wide Bay.

As an independent, I represent you—directly, without the filter of party politics. I’m not bound by factions, donors, or deals. I can fight for what matters to us, not what serves some political party’s purposes.

If we want real change, we have to stop doing the same thing.
Wide Bay has been a safe seat for too long.
It’s time to get fair, evidence-based funding for our community.
